Lunch buddy of the day: Jordana Megonigal, the very sassy Editor in chief of Business Black Box Magazine
Restaurant Concept: The short, simple version: The owner liked tacos. He liked sushi. Southwest+Far East=Takosushi. (click here for longer version)
On my plate: Fish Tacos: Tempura Fried Baja Fish with spicy slaw, chili aoli and cheese. I also tried the Pan-Seared Tilapia taco, but the baja fish taco gets the award for best fish taco in Greenville (replacing Sexy Taco, since they closed. Boooo.). Both were contained by soft corn tortillas sidled up to all the fixin's: guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and medium salsa. Each taco comes with two tortillas... a sort of DIY if you don't want a double shell. I made my 2 tacos into four and then could only finish three because I was too full. Those are some tasty tacos!
Guest's plate: Jordana ordered the Chicken Asian Lettuce Wrap: a bowl FULL of fresh stir-fried veggies in a soy, ginger, honey-like sauce. So it was more of a stirfry than a wrap... though the waitress said some people use the giant lettuce leaf sticking out of the bowl as a mechanism for getting the veggies and rice to the mouth. Jordana opted for a fork. The coolest part was the Tempura Asparagus garnishing the bowl. Nice touch.
I am definitely going back for the $2 taco happy hour one evening!
(Thank you Mary Praytor for the recommendation. I look forward to sharing happy hour with you!)
