Gap Creek Gourmet Social Calendar: Weekend of Oct. 4-6

When the calendar flips to October, the social calendar flood gates open around Greenville.  There is so much going on it's impossible to hit it all.  I thought I'd pass on a few of the cool things going on around Greenville this weekend (October 4-6, 2013).

The Gap Creek Gourmet pick for the coolest event this weekend is Woofstock
Let the dogs out (on a leash, of course) for Greenville Humane Society's annual Woofstock celebration.  Beers, Bands, Barks...oh, and food. If you're a beer lover, this is the place to be.  Unlimited sampling from dozens of regional craft breweries. Our friends at Neue Southern Food Truck will be there along with folks at Mac's Speedshop, Moose on the Loose (CUPCAKES!), Thoroughfare Food Truck, The Chicken Salad Chick and Cool Mama's Ice cream.... etc. Tickets are on sale through the Woofstock website (they include unlimited beer sampling, but I think you have to pay for your food...) $25 General Admission; $30 at the gate.  There's a VIP ticket available if you want to sass it up a bit.
(*mellow dogs over 6 months old only, on leash, vaccinated, with doggie do bags in tow)

Next up? Oktoberfest at NOMA Square in downtown Greenville.

The week long celebration of all things German continues through this weekend at NOMA Square. Stop by on our lunch hour on Friday for German lunch specials, then head back to the party at quitting time.  There's food and beverages and live music all day long on Saturday, then take the kids out on Sunday for some pretzel decorating and games while mom and dad imbibe a little and enjoy the German fare. For more details hit up their website

If you dig the outdoors then you'll want to be at Get Out Greenville this Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm. The event at Conestee Park (840 Mauldin Road) celebrates all there is to offer the outdoor enthusiast in Greenville.  There's Ultimate Frisbee (sign up here), the Urban Ultra 50K (preregistration required), a walk, a youth adventure race, live music, paddle board demos, a pump track, a scavenger hunt for all ages, interactive crafts for the kiddos,  and get up close and personal with some birds of prey.  Henry's Hog Hauler (from Henry's Smokehouse) will be there with their award winning BBQ. The Fudrucker's Truck, Kona Ice, and Rhino Consessions will also be serving up sustenance.  For more info, go to their website

Fun fact: Conestee Park is the Southern point of Greenville Health System's Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Denver Downs Corn Maze in Anderson is now open for the season, if you feel like getting lost in some corn.  We actually did this at Boone Hall Plantation last year and it was a blast! Definitely something you'll want to make a family tradition.

Holy crap!  I almost forgot the Albino Skunk Festival!  Thank goodness I saw it on Upstate Under Your Nose.  Here's the poster, but run on over to their site for a really funny blog post about the event.  (Not for the easily offended.)

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Cheers.
