Sully's Steamers serves up tasty bagel sandwiches

Since opening in early spring 2013, Sully's Steamers has amassed quite the Greenville fan club.  I had to get a taste to see what the fuss was about, and boy was I glad I did. This ginormous cheesy mess is quite possibly one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten.  With no idea where to begin on the expansive menu, I was directed to The Chief, a thinly sliced turkey and cheddar sandwich with veggie cream cheese spread, lettuce and tomato.  After picking my bagel (sesame, cinnamon raisin, blueberry, poppy, everything, plain, jalapeno, multi-grain, wheat, french toast and wait for it.... gluten free!) the concoction was steamed, wrapped and delivered to my waiting hand. Don't think you're gonna be able to make a quick decision on this menu folks.  It's a smorgasbord of cheeses and deli meats, coupled with toppings from cream cheese, to meatballs to Doritos.  

Just a sampling: The Sinful Steamer with meatballs, gouda, pepper jack, onions, bacon and BBQ sauce. The Elvis with peanut butter, bananas, honey and bacon. And the Original Sully's Steamer with ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, Italian dressing, peppers and onions. 

Now listen, you New York bagel loving people!  These aren't off the streets of Manhattan, so I don't want to hear a "When I was in New York" comparison, alrighty?  These bagels are different and still dang good. They are soft and a little bready, with a chewy outside crust, especially after they are steamed.  It's a perfect bagel to hold up layers and layers of fixings.  You never know, some South Carolinian might be up in the BIG CITY right now telling some schmo about Sully's awesome bagels.

Okay, so now you're hungry.  The line has probably died down a little by now. Go get a bagel sandwich. 

Sully's Steamers is located beside Sticky Fingers on Washington Street.  They are open from 7 am to 8 pm (Mon-Thurs) and til 3 am on Friday and Saturday.  Sunday hours are 9:30 am to 3 pm.
