Cool off with a cone from Travelers Rest's Trailside Creamery

It's super-duper hot outside which makes for good business at Trailside Creamery.  The little ice cream shop is one of the many new businesses opening on and around Main Street Travelers Rest and it's one of my daughter's favorite stops for an afternoon snack.  I gotta say, I kinda dig it too! The ice cream is thick and the creamiest soft serve I've ever eaten.

There is a limited selection of options, but the place gets a big two thumbs up for their two rotating flavors.  This week it was peach and blackberry! They always have vanilla and chocolate and can swirl two flavors together if you want to mix things up.  There are also some fixins' like candies and coconut, etc, a few ongoing specials (Furman University students get a discount!) and be sure to give the freezer a peek for some delicious ice cream sandwiches or ice cream to go!

My daughter raves about Jen's lemon ice cream, and though it wasn't on her flavor menu this week, she said it was on tap for next week.  Guess what that means?  We shall return.  One thing is for sure, we gobbled up our peach ice cream with happy faces.

Wanna hear something cool?  See that bike?  It is a restored 70 year old grocery deliver bike.  Saturdays, the creamery is going mobile on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, making regular stops at these cute little hand painted ice cream birdhouses! (There's a map.)  My daughter said the basket was big enough for three corgis! That's a lot of ice cream! Keep an eye out on their site for specific dates and special stops for the Trailside Creamery Pedaler

When you stop in for your first taste, tell them Gap Creek Gourmet sent you!
